RBV 11/07/25 Update + Pyri Investment Opportunity
RBV Update: First Exit (Adro) + Pyri Investment Opportunity - Webinar This Friday 11/14 at 12pm ET
Dear Friends of Red Bear Ventures:
It's been a busy few months!
We're writing with 4 quick updates:
1. Adro Acquisition
On October 24th, Snowball & Co. acquired Adro in an all cash transaction, just 9 months after RBV’s investment in the company. Adro’s co-founder and CEO, Amarildo Gjondrekaj (JGSM ‘19), has taken over as the CEO of the combined company. More details can be found here. We are thrilled for the Adro team and excited to see what this next chapter brings!
2. Pyri Investment Opportunity
RBV has secured a small allocation in the pre-seed round of an exciting new climate tech company, Pyri. The company has developed a nature-based early wildfire detection system. Co-investors include the scout arm of Index Ventures (one of the most respected venture capital firms in the world), and other global funds which will become public in the coming weeks.
Despite its early stage, Pyri is already supported by leading partners across key markets - including Founders Factory (Europe and Australia), collaboration with the Western Australia Government (engaging companies such as Rio Tinto), and Creative Destruction Lab (Canada). The founders, one of whom is a Cornell grad (Engineering '17), have also been selected by Sir Jony Ive and King Charles III as Terra Carta Design Lab winners.
Additional details on Pyri can be found on both their overview deck and their summary video. The webinar is this Friday, November 14th, at 12pm ET. Please reply to this email if you’d like to join the webinar and we’ll add you to the Zoom invite.
3. Seeking Senior Mortgage Industry Expert
Every now and then, we come across a company which has no Cornell affiliation but which we believe could be a terrific investment opportunity for the RBV community. To help secure an allocation in these financings, we try to identify an industry executive within the Cornell community who could materially help the company, either as an advisor or as an independent board member. We recently met a company which fits this profile and which is leveraging artificial intelligence to disrupt the trillion-dollar residential mortgage market in the United States. The company has product-market fit and is ramping up quickly. If you know of a senior executive with deep expertise in this area, please reach out to us and we will provide more details.
4. Growing the RBV Community
The RBV community is already 5,000+ Cornellians, and we plan to grow it to 25,000 by Reunion Weekend next June. To that end, please forward this email to classmates or fellow alums who may want to join. There is (obviously) no requirement to invest and the minimum check size per company is $5000. Anyone interested can register here.
Lastly, we’re planning to make these updates monthly moving forward. If that’s too much, please feel free to opt out at the link below.
Thanks!
Dan and Gus
